Executive Director

The mission of the Georgia Concrete Paving Association is to promote the increased use of quality Portland cement concrete pavements throughout Georgia.

The Georgia Concrete Paving Association is seeking a full time Executive Director that is a highly motivated professional to increase market share for concrete pavement and other cement products by assisting public officials and private consultants with design, construction and policy decisions. The candidate must have the ability to develop strong business relationships, be creative, persistent, and enthusiastic. In-state overnight travel will be required to establish and sustain essential contact with public officials, contractors, suppliers, owners and engineers. This person will also coordinate with promotion partners and collaborate with pertinent professional associations to advance Concrete Pavements.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Gaining access to decision-makers and cultivating those relationships. These decision-makers include:

    • State DOT officials and engineering personnel, cities and consultant engineers

    • Developers, contractors and material suppliers

    • Elected officials

  • Planning, developing and conducting workshops, seminars, project visits and other opportunities that present themselves

  • Responding to inquiries for technical information and assistance

  • Maintaining effective relationships with public and private professional organizations

  • Insuring that the Board of Directors and members are kept informed of promotion activities and key issues through regular communications and quarterly reports. Use of central office for administration support.

Required Skills

  • Excellent ability to communicate with engineers, developers, contractors and city, county and state officials and engineers

  • Excellent oral/writing communications skills; public speaking

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel and Power Point

  • Knowledge of pavement design, construction and maintenance is preferred

  • Ability to create proposals and simplified messaging

  • Must be highly energized, motivated and enthusiastic

  • Must be a self-starter with an excellent work ethic to work with minimum supervision

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to provide suitable office space in the home.

  • Must be willing to travel overnight in Georgia. Some national travel 2-3 times per year.

  • Position will have supervisory requirements.

Education / Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, Management or related area

  • Leadership experience and a P.E. license is preferred

  • Five to ten years of progressive experience in engineering, construction or business marketing. Experience in design and construction of pavements and/or pavement base materials or business development experience a plus.

  • Basic Computer skills with knowledge of Outlook, Power Point, spreadsheets.
